Quinta do Pântano Self Catering Units:

The Quinta do Pântano is a working farm. The picture above was taken in mid winter (January 2008) and typically there are always flowers and lovely weather about! Ofcourse the loveliest time to see the flowers and bloom are in the months of May through October - but the rest of the year still provides a lot of beautiful, natural and refreshing eye-candy. The property grows fruit such as kiwis and lemons. Although the kiwis are for commercial production most of the other produce is for local consumption or sold at the popular local farmers market on Sundays. It also has live animals - ducks, chickens, pheasant and even a horse or two.

The "quinta" (a term meaning a farm or rural country estate in Portuguese) is conveniently located near easy access routes to the major roads that spread to the rest of the island. The airport is less than ten minutes away and the bustle of the cosmopolitan city of Funchal is some 25 minutes away. However, Madeira's second largest city is just a mere 10 minutes away and offers its own unique spread of restaurants, night life and tourist attractions. A planned golden sandy beach should be installed soon in the harbour of Machico.
